On this full-day tour of Juno — the Canadian sector — we will visit Arromanches, Graye-sur-Mer, Courseulles-sur-Mer, Bernières-sur-Mer, St Aubin-sur-Mer, the RCAF Advanced Landing Ground, the Canadian War Cemetery at Bény-Reviers, and Abbaye d'Ardenne. You will learn about the planning, the units involved, and how Canada's role in D-Day extended far beyond the beach — into the air and deep into the campaign.

Locations We Will Visit

1

Arromanches / Mulberry Harbour

We begin at the remains of the remarkable Mulberry artificial harbour. This extraordinary invention became the most important Allied port in North-West Europe until December 1944.

2

Graye-sur-Mer & Courseulles-sur-Mer

The western flank of Juno sector where Canadian forces landed on D-Day. Learn about the Canadian 3rd Infantry Division's plan to land the Canadian Scottish and Royal Winnipeg Rifles against one of the best-prepared German defences in the area. At a small extra fee, visit the highly acclaimed Juno Centre.

3

Bernières-sur-Mer

At this beach, the Queen's Own Rifles of Canada and Le Régiment de la Chaudière landed. Hear stories of the initial struggle to break through German defences. We also visit the world-famous Canada House and the train station featured in many iconic D-Day photographs.

4

Lunch

Approximately 45-minute break for a sandwich or quick snack (not included in the tour price).

5

St Aubin-sur-Mer

The eastern Canadian landing area, assaulted by the North Shore New Brunswick Regiment and British Commandos. See the spot where German bunkers overlooked the beach from a commanding position, and learn how tanks from the Fort Garry Horse regiment broke the stalemate.

6

ALG B-4 — the RCAF

The involvement of the 2nd Tactical Air Force, specifically RCAF squadrons, is often overlooked but played a crucial role in supporting Canadian ground forces. Learn about the creation of Advanced Landing Grounds (temporary airfields) and the missions of the RCAF.

7

Canadian War Cemetery at Bény-Reviers

Time for reflection at the Canadian War Cemetery, the final resting place and memorial for 2,048 mostly Canadian soldiers.

8

Abbaye d'Ardenne

Canadian POWs were murdered here by the 12th SS "Hitler Youth" Division. Hear the emotional stories of the men involved and the War Crimes trials against the SS troops held responsible.

Private Tour Booking Form

Before you use the form below to inquire after a private guided tour, please understand that there is an important reason behind my company name. It is the coalition of many nations, united and allied, who fought against fascism, for democracy, for freedom of speech and to set the people of Europe free from the nazi regime. If you support that kind of regime, or wannabe-regime, then please do NOT get in touch. Trumpers and MAGAts are not welcome on my tours.
