Brittany American Cemetery and Mont Saint Michel
Visit the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, and one of the most spectacular sights in Normandy: the Mont Saint Michel.
At the American Cemetery near St James we will take time to pay our respects to the fallen and those who are still listed as Missing In Action.
Known as a Marvel of the Western World, the Mont Saint Michel and its unique natural setting are also now classified World Heritage sites by UNESCO. It is the region’s star attraction since pilgrims first flocked here 1000 years ago, it now draws almost three million visitors each year and had only 40 true inhabitants.
Included are entry tickets to the Abbey – fast pass to skip the queues once we arrive.
After I pick you up from your accommodation in Bayeux, we will drive to St James to visit the Brittany American Cemetery, a journey of around 1,5 hours. On route, you will discover the Normandy countryside and I will share with you information and stories of Norman as well as WW2 history.
At the cemetery, we will be able to pay our respects to the 4400 American soldiers, sailors and airmen who are laid to rest, as well as the 900 who are listed on the Wall of the Missing. If you have a relative who is buried here, please let me know in advance so we can notify the ABMC of our visit.
We will then continue to the Mont Saint Michel. Once we have arrived at the main car park, I will lead you to the Mont and you will receive entry tickets for the Abbey. You’ll have around 4 hours of leisure time to enjoy your visit, see the medieval village, shops, museums (not included in the price of the tour), have lunch. It is a magical place!
At 15.00h we will depart for our return journey to Bayeux.
